Our history

We are a small family run business that love what we do.

When my parents began growing back in the 1970’s they sold pot plants and summer bedding at a small market in Redruth but very quickly went on to vegetables and cut flowers and by the early 1980’s moved on to a farm between Redruth and Portreath to expand further.  This is where I was born and grew up.

From the age of 12 I began helping extensively, especially now  we were trading at Truro Farmers markets in Truro twice a week and once in Falmouth.  Than the decision to move from Portreath and find somewhere more central and sheltered on the south coast was made and we were lucky enough to find a delightful smallholding on the outskirts of Carnon Downs – which is the Meadowside that we have made our home and nursery.

After leaving school, and keewn to carry on in my parents footsteps, I went to Duchy College Rosewarne for 4 years where I achieved my National Diploma in Horticulture plus lots of ideas to help the business grow further.  The three if us have worked closely together continuing to grow the produce and plants which have proved to be so popular at our local markets.

In 2012 we took the big step to exhibit in the flower pavilion at the Royal Cornwall Show where we were surprised and honoured to win our first Gold Medal.  We have attended each year since winning Gold or Large Gold for the time consuming cottage garden themed exhibits plus awards for garden design and best use of colour

As customers have been asking us repeatedly to be able to visit the nursery we have made the decision to open a small sales area where people can browse and select their choice at leisure with no distance to carry to the car and we look forward to seeing you during the coming seasons.
